Easter
I went to San Diego for Easter to see my family. I saw my mom and sister of course but also some Italian cousins via Skype. Thus I scored some more Italian language practice.
I also hung out with some old San Diego buddies at U31. This bar would have made me feel old only I never liked loud music even when I was young. The company was good and the music selection was nice. Also, maybe I'm used the lily white Oakland Art murmur, but looking at the crowd at U31 was like seeing America's multi-ethnic future. Let me say that it looks fine. To the girl with the afro: bravo.
My mom's habit of singing Italian pop hits from the 60's makes a lot more sense now that I understand the songs. In the below super popular song "Fatti Mandare dalla Mamma" the singer implores his lady to come down from her balcony and talk to him. As a pretense (since she can't possibly tell her parents she's going out to talk to a boy) he suggests that she asks her mom to let her go out and buy some milk. Thus the props you can see in the hilariously over-the-top dance number.
